Public Consultation on Minimum Age of Sale of Tobacco Products – Northern Ireland

Wednesday, January 9, 2008 Save & Share

This letter and accompanying survey form provides the TMA’s response to the consultation in Northern Ireland on the minimum age of sale for tobacco products. The response makes it clear that children should not smoke and whatever the age for sale is, be it 16 or 18, there should be support for the retailers who are expected to ‘police’ the law.

In addition we call for action to be taken against the illicit tobacco trade which already provides underage smokers with a source of cigarettes.
